Some facts:
Different people need different amounts of sleep. Most healthy adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Children and teens need even more.
While you sleep, you go through cycles of sleep states. The first state in a sleep cycle is light sleep, followed by deep sleep and a dream state referred to as REM-sleep. A full sleep cycle lasts about 90 minutes and is normally repeated several times each night.
Did you know? The first Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep stage lasts around 10 minutes and usually happens after having been asleep at least 90 minutes. Your eyes move rapidly in all directions during Rapid Eye Movement sleep. It is during this stage of sleep (the deepest) that powerful dreams usually happen.
